AB 126: Judicial DiversityThis bill encourages members of the local judicial selection advisory committees to recommend judicial candidates from diverse backgrounds and cultures reflecting the demographics of California.

AB 420: RedistrictingThis bill requires the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation,by April 1, 2020 to provide the California Redistricting Commission with information on the last known residence of each inmate incarcerated in a California correctional facility, excluding those inmates whose last known place of residence is outside California.

AB 1084: Veterans Cooperative Housing & Home Loan provisionsThis bill amends existing California Veteran Home Loan Program (CalVet) provisions, which will allow CalVet to be used to finance the purchase of a shared equity Cooperative Housing (Co-op). The bill will also clarify that CalVet's role is to finance a home purchase as its relationship is with the buyer, not the non-profit.

AB 1085: Inter-District TransfersThis bill extends the deadline imposed on county offices of education for processing of appeals of denials of K-12 interdistrict transfers, from 30 calendar days to 40 school days, effectively doubling the time period. The bill only applies to counties with average daily attendance over 180,000.

AB 1329: Disease CentersThis bill requires the department to establish a process to receive applications for, and issue, the award of a grant to an agency to operate the statewide cancer reporting system and to issue grants to another agency representing a designated cancer reporting region for the purposes of collecting and collating cancer incidence data.

AB 1918 - Public Utilities: ProcurementProvides that the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) require specified wireless telecommunications service providers to annually report on their progress as it relates to increasing contracting with women and minority-owned businesses and disabled veteran business enterprises (WMDVBEs).

AB 2079 – Student Athlete’s Right to KnowRequires all institutions with intercollegiate athletic programs to provide a disclosure letter to the student recruits within one week of a recruiter’s contact with a student-athlete and post specified information on their websites.

AB 2632 – Gang InjunctionsThis bill specifies that disobedience of the terms of a gang injunction constitutes contempt of court, and is punishable as a misdemeanor. 

ACR 126 - El Salvador Community CorridorThis measure recognizes the Los Angeles area located between Adams Boulevard and 11th Street on Vermont Boulevard as the El Salvador Community Corridor.

AB 1123 - Professions and vocations: process servers: registrationRequires a registrant to become a process server to submit a completed Request for Live Scan form confirming fingerprint submission to the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the time of filing an initial certificate of registration or renewing a certificate of registration that has lapsed.

AB 1240 - LA Community CollegeAllows community colleges to lease or sell property through formal written bids, and eliminate the need to have a subsequent oral auction on receipt of written formal sealed bids. The bill also clarifies that commission on a sale or lease shall only be payable on the winning bid.

AB 1363 - Firearm PermitsClarifies existing law relating to concealed firearms by stating that concealed firearm permits only apply in the county of issuance and makes non-substantive changes such as substituting the term "handgun" for "pistols, revolvers, or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person."

AB 1457 - Long-term health care facilities: admission contractsAdds the requirement that the abbreviated contracts of admission and contracts of admission include, for entities that own 5 or more long-term health care or similar facilities nationwide, the name of the owner and the name and contact information of a single entity that is fully accountable for all aspects of patient care and operation at the facility.

AB 1459 - Multifamily Housing Program: veteransProvides that a sponsor of a supportive housing development may restrict occupancy to persons with veteran status if, in addition to meeting other requirements, the development is located on property that is owned or leased by a city, county or city and county. AB 1459 will add to the current existing law by inserting "and property owned or leased by cities or counties" into the language.

ACR 81 – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., DayThis resolution honors the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and commemorates the observance of his birthday, January 21, 2008, as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

ACR 86 – Korean-American DayThis resolution proclaims January 13, 2008 as Korean-American Day. 

ACR 104 - Public Service Recognition Week.Recognizes May 5 to 11, 2008 as Public Service Recognition Week. 

ACR 133 - Black Barbershop Health Outreach Month.Recognizes May 2008 as “Black Barbershop Health Outreach Month” and encourages outreach on health disparities at all barbershops throughout California.

AB 873 - Public Utilities: ProcurementRequires each water corporation with gross annual revenues of more than $25 million to submit annual plans for increasing procurement from women, minority, and disabled veteran business enterprises (W/M/DVBEs). 

AB 876 - Career technical education.Requests the California State University (CSU) and the University of California (UC) to provide assistance in the development of K-12 Career Technical Education (CTE) courses for the purposes of admission to the CSU and the UC.

AB 1424 - Elder and dependent adult abuse.California Penal Code Section 166 permits judges in misdemeanor domestic violence cases to issue a restraining or stay-away order. This bill would give judges the discretion to issue the same kind of stay-away orders in misdemeanor elder abuse cases. This bill would bring elder abuse cases in line with the current law covering domestic violence. 

AB 2452 - Notaries public.Helps prevent real estate fraud by requiring notary publics check the identification of everyone who present documents that would change title to real property in California. 

AB 2321 – Transportation Funding: County of Los AngelesThis bill extends the sunset date that a voter approved ½ percent local transportation sales tax in Los Angeles County may be imposed from 6 ½ years to 30 years, provided the extension is approved by 2/3 of the county voters in the November 4, 2008 general election.

AB 2609 - Vandalism: penalties: community service.Makes it mandatory, instead of discretionary, for a court to order a defendant convicted of vandalism consisting of defacing property by graffiti to clean up or repair the property when appropriate and feasible. 

AB 2449 - Military service: privileges: job protection.Expands employment protections ("return" rights) for members of the National Guard ordered into active state of federal service, by allowing a prosecuting city attorney of the city to act on their behalf. 

HOT 2012 LEGISLATIONAB 327 - 3 StrikesWould require that the “third strike” in Three Strikes be for a violent or serious felony. This would change current law which allows any felony to qualify as a “third strike.”


AB 1763 - Special Grand JuryAllows Attorney General to convene a special grand jury for the investigation and indictment of crimes against the state, and for financial crimes involving victims in multiple jurisdictions.


AB 1950 - Real Estate Fraud ProtectionExtends statute of limitations from 1 to 3 years on violations connected w/ foreclosure-related scams.


AB 2037 - New Markets Tax CreditShifts $200 million from State Hiring Tax Credit to create a new State New Markets Tax Credit, facilitating the leveraging of millions more in federal and private funds for investment in small business in low-income communities.


AB 1253 - County BudgetsWould allow counties to make adjustments to their budgets between June, when a preliminary budget is adopted, and October, when the final budget is adopted.
